Packed cold, still cold

RealCool builds for the last cold can

Anyone can keep the first drink cold. We build coolers, packs and lunch bags around the one at the bottom — the can you reach for when the light has gone and everyone is packing up the chairs.

25 bags across four families · sealed PEVA liners · up to 16 hours of cold

Sealed, not sewn

Liners are heat-pressed shut, so there are no stitch holes for melt water to escape through.

16 hours of cold

Our cooler bodies are built and tested to hold their temperature for a full day out.

Folds to a slab

The soft coolers collapse to about 2.35 in, so they live in the car rather than the garage.

Wipes clean

Oxford and coated polyester shells take sand, spilled soda and wet grass without complaint.

Method

How we get to sixteen hours

Seal the bucket

The inner liner is food-grade PEVA, closed with a hot press instead of a needle. Nothing sewn means nothing to leak — melt water stays where the ice was.

Insulate the walls

Between the liner and the shell sits thick closed-cell foam. It is the layer nobody sees and the only reason the number at the end is sixteen and not six.

Keep food off the ice

Every cooler we make has a second deck. Bread, fruit and containers ride above the cold, so lunch does not arrive as a wet parcel.

Inside a RealCool fold-flat cooler, loaded

What we argue about

What we argue about internally

The zip, every time

A cooler fails at its zip before it fails anywhere else. Ours are oversized and, on the camp packs, water-resistant — the part that gets pulled a hundred times a summer should be the part you never think about.

Standing up, not slumping

A soft cooler that folds over on the sand spills the bottles. We build a firm base into the backpacks so they hold their shape loaded, then let the whole thing collapse when it is empty.

The walk back to the car

The bag is heaviest on the way out and lightest on the way home. Padded straps and a foam back panel are not luxury items when twenty-three litres of ice is involved.

Nice cooler

This cooler is a nice size for a smaller cooler. I originally bought one to fill with items for a church raffle, and I liked it so much I bought one for myself. It has pockets and a zip pouch and seems sturdy. I’ll be able to fit a round bowl with salad, cans of seltzer, and/ or a bottle of wine. It’s not floppy like a bigger one I have and has enough structure to it without being rigid. It looks like the inside will be easy to wipe down after using.

Well made

This backpack cooler is functional and lightweight. Has a lot of pockets and is spacious. It keeps it cool with room for many things, ice packs, water, snacks. The hidden pocket and the bottle opener are a nice feature. The straps makes it very comfortable on your back. ideal for hikes, beach or a picnic in the park.

Practical and Well-Organized Lunch Bag

I bought this lunch bag for my dad, and he has been very happy with it. It has a great size and several compartments, which makes it easy to keep food, drinks, and other items separated and organized. The design is practical and convenient for everyday use. The quality is very good, and overall, we are very satisfied with this purchase. I would definitely recommend it.

Perfect

Got this as a TCG backpack and it’s literally perfect. I can fit two playmats in plastics tubes in the side pocket and the securing clips keep them in place. Enough space for deck boxes and a binder, plus sleeves and accessories. Great purchase compared to spending 100$ on a tcg specific backpack.

Great bag

Pretty happy with this purchase. It holds all of my books and stuff for work plus there’s room for more. I even tucked my lunch bag in there. My 40 oz tumbler fits in the side pocket. I wouldn’t trust it for a long walk or hike to hold in there but I can put it in there from my car to my desk and that’s pretty cool. Very sturdy zippers well made bag . And it was a prime deal win all the way around 😊it’s a basic sturdy laptop backpack and I would buy another one as a gift if I needed to

Choosing a soft cooler, a cooler backpack or a lunch bag

A soft cooler earns its place by being the one you actually take. Hard coolers hold ice longer on paper, but they live in a garage and need two people to move once they are loaded. A fold-flat soft cooler goes behind the driver's seat, keeps 35 or 45 cans cold for the length of a normal day out, and then collapses to a two-inch slab so it is not still eating your boot space on Monday morning. That trade — a few hours of ice retention for a bag you carry without thinking — is the reason soft-sided coolers now outsell the hard ones for day trips, tailgates and grocery runs.

Capacity is quoted in cans because it is the only number people can picture. A 15 L double-deck lunch bag takes 18 cans in the lower deck, which is a week of lunches or an afternoon at the park. A 23 L cooler backpack holds 33 cans with ice around them and leaves both your hands free, which matters the moment the walk from the car is longer than the width of a car park. A 28 L fold-flat cooler swallows 45 cans and a bag of ice, and that is genuinely enough for a cookout. If you are choosing between two sizes, the practical test is not what fits — it is what you can carry loaded, uphill, in one trip.

Insulation does the quiet work. A liner made from food-grade PEVA and closed with a hot press has no stitch holes, so melted ice stays inside the bag rather than running down your leg or into the boot carpet. Around it, closed-cell foam slows the heat coming in. Together they are what the sixteen-hour figure describes: a full bag, pre-chilled contents, ice packs or cubes in with the drinks, and the lid kept shut. Pack it warm and open it every ten minutes and no cooler on earth will hold that number — cold retention is a shared job between the bag and the way you load it.

The rest of the range exists because the same trips need more than food. A carry-on travel pack that opens flat at security and slides onto a suitcase handle covers the flights; a 31 L laptop backpack covers the commute; a 20 L trail daypack with a hydration sleeve and pole loops covers the walk once you have parked. They share the shells, the zips and the padded harnesses we use on the coolers, because the failure points are identical — and because a weekend usually needs a cold bag and a dry one at the same time.

Questions

Asked before every first trip

How long does a RealCool soft cooler keep ice?

Our cooler bodies are built to hold temperature for up to 16 hours when they start full, cold and closed. Pre-chill what goes in, use ice packs or cubes with the drinks rather than on top of them, and keep the bag out of direct sun — in those conditions a full 35-can body will still be cold the next morning. Half-empty bags and repeated opening cost hours.

Is the lining actually leakproof?

The liner is food-grade PEVA, and the seams are closed with a hot press instead of stitching. With no needle holes there is nothing for melt water to find, so you can let a bag of ice melt completely and still carry the bag indoors without a drip trail. The lunch bags share the same construction, which is why we ask you to use ice packs rather than loose cubes in them — sharp ice can score any liner over time.

How many cans is 23 litres, really?

Thirty-three standard 330 ml cans, packed upright, with room for ice around them. In practice people load closer to 24 cans and a bag of ice, or a full picnic for four. The same volume swallows two shoeboxes of food containers if you are carrying dinner rather than drinks.

Can the coolers go in the wash?

No — wipe them out instead. The shells are wear-resistant Oxford or coated polyester, and warm water with a little washing-up liquid on a cloth takes care of everything from sand to spilled soda. Leave the bag open to dry fully before folding it flat, and it will not develop the smell that kills most coolers.

What is the difference between the two cooler backpacks?

The 33-can backpack is the wide, box-shaped one built for carrying a picnic from the car park. The camp pack is taller, coated for rain, has water-resistant zips, a hidden pocket against your back and a bottle opener on the shoulder strap. Same 23 L of cold — one is built for the beach path, the other for a wet campsite.

Do the travel packs count as carry-on luggage?

The 15.6-inch pack measures 11 x 7 x 16.5 in and the 17.3-inch pack 12.6 x 7.87 x 18.5 in, which meets the cabin allowance on most airlines and fits under the seat in front of you on many. Allowances change and low-cost carriers are stricter, so check your airline's current dimensions before you fly.
